Neighborhood Spotlight: Just Dance

Thursday, January 17, 2019 0 comments

Just Dance was born from a dream. Stapleton women came together to support each other in the idea to create a place where moms can let go, break free, and have fun through dance fitness!

They offer a variety of adult classes including Hip Hop, Cardio Dance Jam, Zumba, Pound, Afro Salsa Fusion, and Beginner Adult Ballet. They are a no-judgment zone, and a dance background is not necessary for their classes. There are multiple ways to modify moves for lower or higher impact, and their instructors will provide those options in each class! Check out their class schedule for more information.

They also offer classes for children ages 2-10. They have parent/child creative movement (2-5 yrs), Creative Dance drop-off classes (3-5 yrs), and Character Dance drop-off class (6-10 years). The drop-off classes are taught by Diane Paige, who is a Ballet instructor from the Colorado Ballet Academy.

Just Dance is currently located at the Stanley Marketplace inside another amazing Stapleton business - Neighborhood Music - in the dance studio. They opened their doors January 13 and are ready to greet you!

The first class is free, so why not give it a try and support a new Stapleton business!

The 5K will be a diverse run as you loop through Great Lawn Park, weave over a creek, around a lake, on dirt trails and paved sidewalks.

Soon after, four gyms will facilitate four (plus) fitness stations such as rowing machines, kettlebells, and full-bBody workouts.

If the 5K and Fitness Experience isn't for you, just participate in the 1-mile Family Fun Run, then find a shade spot, join us for lunch, and check out a highly competitive Rice Carry Relay made up of teams who are ready to endure the Signature Dignity Challenge.

Project Worthmore does all this in a heartfelt expression to recognize our refugee neighbors and raise funds to welcome families to our city, and they hope you will take on the challenge with us.

Rundown: Making those fitness resolutions come true

Friday, December 27, 2013 0 comments

It's that time of year again, when gym memberships across the country soar, spin classes fill up, there's a line for the treadmill, and we're all getting up at 5 a.m.

Happily, there are lots of options and great deals to be had! Here's a rundown of a few of our favorites.

1. Qi Gym Endorphin - Lowry * UPDATED*

Formerly Qi Extreme in Lowry, Qi Endorphin has a new name, a new look and a hard driving new format all about moving: high-intensity workouts combining the best of Qi Gyms. Expect cycling, yoga, CrossFit, Boxing and more. Did we mention high intensity? Expect to be pushed. We never thought we'd love Kettlebells so much! Workouts rely on continuously varied, functional movements using light weight. Owner Chris Lindley teaches many of the classes. Pay an unlimited monthly fee, or buy a 10 class package, or pay by the class.

Check their schedule because they sometimes offer FREE classes.

2. Pura Vida Fitness & Spa - Cherry Creek

OK, let's get it out there: this place is heavenly. Once you step foot in this oasis, you'll never want to leave. The options for fitness classes at all hours of the day is dizzying. The price tag is equally dizzying - but you'll find yourself coming up with a million reasons it's worth it. The amazing spin bikes that don't hurt your hiney; the Pilates room; every style of yoga; the eucalyptus steam room; the instructors who truly take it up a notch or four from the average gym; the personal trainers; the undulating ambiance of calm and contentedness… need I go on?

Before you say, "But I could never afford them…" they offer a special, partial membership that just happens to be perfect for moms who can make the classes Monday through Friday between 10 am and 3 pm (the "off-hours"): just $100 per month, no contract. Look at the schedule and you'll see there are lots of options during those hours.

And the best kept secret in town? Book a spa appointment, and you get use of the gym, too.

3. Cross Fit Stapleton - Havana industrial area, Denver

Cross Fit is all the rage -- and you can see why, with the great results people get. Cross Fit Stapleton is family owned and operated, they have 6,000 square feet of space and for the New Year they're offering free babysitting! Get a FREE WEEK! Here's the details:

Deal of the Week: 5 amazing classes at Qi Lowry or Qi Edgewater for just $30

Sunday, April 29, 2012 0 comments

I am a huge fan of spinning classes.

It's no secret that I love the RPM classes at Bladium, and recently discovered Qi Cycle classes too!

Qi Fitness Centers are a 5280 Top new workout. They're new in Lowry! And they're in Edgwater in the Highlands! And they want moms to check them out, so they're offering an amazing deal through Plum District: $30 for 5 classes - that's a $70 value!

And because Plum District loves moms - you can still use the promo code MOM25 to get an EXTRA 25% off! That's an insane deal!

Here's my top reasons you should check them out.

1. Cycling is one of the most efficient workouts you can do. For busy moms, that means you will burn the maximum amount of calories in a 45 minute class. We're talking 500+ calories.

2. Endorphins. Getting your heart rate up that high releases a flood of feel-good endorphins. I had never experienced "runner's high" until I tried a spin class.

3. The Ryder bikes are crazy cool. They move, lean, sway - you have to steer and balance. It takes a couple of classes to get  used to them, but they're fun. They work your core.

4. Spin PLUS yoga. Get your heart pumping, the sweat flowing, your muscles screaming - and then take it to the mat for some balance, strength and stretching. Yin/Yang.

5. Or keep it fierce with the Mountain Warrior class: spin plus a boot camp style workout that changes all the time. My first class was cycling intermixed with lunges and pushups and sit-ups. The next one was cycling followed by kettle bells. Whoah.

6. Hello, Lowry location. Less than 10 minutes away next to Wings Over the Rockies. And they offer great yoga classes, barre classes (all the rage!), kettle bell and more.

7. TIP: Sign up for the class online ahead of time - if you're not signed up, you might not get a bike!

Get this deal now! And as a BONUS: The first person to use Promo Code FMLTRKQ2 gets another $10 off!!! Read the full story
