There's a brand-new 5K in our neighborhood! The Dragon Dash 5K Run/Walk is at 10:00 a.m. on November 5, 2023, in Central Park in Denver. 

Organized by and benefiting Isabella Bird Community School, this annual, family-friendly event is open to the community, and all ages and fitness levels are welcome! You can run for time, run for fun, walk, skip, dance. They encourage you to bring your good energy & wear a festive outfit. 

For you more serious runners, this event is professionally timed and on an official 5K course. For 2023, they partnered with 3W Races.

**No dogs. For participant safety, no bikes, skateboards, or rollerblades.  Strollers or wagons being operated by adult participants are allowed.

We're excited to share that the YMCA of the Rockies will reopen May 22 with lodge rooms, cabins, and yurts (at Snow Mountain Ranch)!

YMCA of the Rockies Estes Park Center and Snow Mountain Ranch look forward to reopening their wide-open spaces, mountain views and fresh air with guests on May 22 (a few cabins are still available for Memorial Day weekend).

Curbside check-ins will be provided for guest arrivals and self-check-outs will be conducted via email, and although the dining halls and restaurants will be closed to seating and in-person dining, a variety of options will be available to guests such as grocery delivery to cabins, take out family pick-up meal options, and to-go items from on-site dining facilities and local restaurants.

Stapleton Moms' friend Venture Martial Arts is hosting free Family Fit online classes designed for the entire family. The classes – which are open to the public and held at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays – are designed to keep families active and offer bonding experiences among household members who may be feeling isolated due to current events.

“During a time when much of the world is feeling isolated, we wanted to bring people together safely,” said Micah Martin, founder of Venture Martial Arts. “Our Family Fit class will help adults train with their children and allow them to further connect as a family during this time of crisis.”

The 5th Annual Stanley Harvesting Hope is coming this Thanksgiving! It's a family-friendly Turkey Trot, featuring a professionally timed 5K and 10K with FREE kids fun run. 

The race will be held in Stapleton and takes runners and walkers through the beautiful trails surrounding Central Park. As a family-focused event, kids 10 and under are invited to participate in a free 1K fun run in addition to the professionally-timed, USATF certified 5K. New this year, the event will also offer the only 10K turkey trot and beer garden in the Denver metro area. 

Participants receive a T-shirt, swag bag, professionally timed results, free race photos, and a free adult beverage for those 21 and up. All attendees can enjoy free entertainment, food, and coffee. Dogs, strollers, and wheelchairs are welcome.

All proceeds are donated to the Foundation for Prader-Willi Research to support their work in eliminating Prader-Willi Syndrome, a rare genetic condition causing insatiable hunger and other hormonal abnormalities. Prader-Willi syndrome is the leading genetic cause of life-threatening childhood obesity and currently, there is no treatment.

Why it was started:

Now in its fifth year, Stanley Harvesting Hope was started by two Stapleton moms with deep ties to PWS who wanted to create a fun and safe way to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday – a particularly challenging day for those dealing with PWS. It is the only race in the state that brings awareness to this rare disease, and all proceeds go to the Foundation for Prader-Willi Research to support their efforts in finding treatments.

About PWS:

Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS) is a genetic disorder that occurs in approximately one out of every 15,000 births. PWS is recognized as the most common genetic cause of life-threatening childhood obesity. The common characteristics defined in the initial report included small hands and feet, abnormal growth and body composition (small stature, very low lean body mass, and early-onset childhood obesity), hypotonia (weak muscles) at birth, insatiable hunger, extreme obesity, and intellectual disability. PWS results from an abnormality of chromosome 15, and definitive diagnosis is now based on genetic testing.

Punch Bowl Social, occupant of the historic Stapleton Airport air control tower at the corner of MLK and Central Park Blvd., is celebrating summer with the release of its newest installation - a full 18-hole miniature golf course - aviation-themed, of course!

My family and I had a chance to play the course last night, and it's a blast! Just challenging enough for all ages to enjoy without getting frustrated, with a variety of obstacles and hole styles, and drink-holders at each hole so you can enjoy a craft beverage as you play. The course is fun for families, teens, or a date or friends activity - we saw big smiles on the faces of all ages!

My 7-year-old son sunk the only hole-in-one of the night and beat me by a couple of strokes. My daughter's favorite hole was #18 - the skee-ball style hole is a unique addition to this course - I've never seen a hole like it anywhere else (and we've played a lot of mini golf)!

They also unveiled some of their new menu options - the one that excited me the most was the falafel burger. They also added spicy shrimp street tacos, a flatbread with prosciutto and fingerling potatoes, and some new craft beverages (try the watermelon tequila one). Delicious!

The new Putt Club joins the other patio options at PBS including a fire pit, table tennis, cornhole, and a full open-air bar. Officially open to the public today, June 20, 2019, the course is available to guests on a first come, first served basis. The new Putt Club space is also available for private events.

You can golf all 18 holes for just $10 for adults and $6 for kids ages 12 and under.

The Colorado Tiny House Festival returns June 21-23 for its third year in Brighton, and they're also debuting a Camping Corner and Skoolie Build/School Bus Conversion Workshop.

Once again, the largest tiny house and alternative living event in the region will feature more than 40 small living structures – each with its own, one-of-a-kind floor plan, décor and remarkable use of space. Hosted on the sprawling grounds of Riverdale Regional Park, the event blends the spirit of the tiny living movement with the most up-to-date information on going tiny, simplifying your life, minimalistic living, and living greener.

Enjoy touring a mix of tiny houses on wheels to container homes, skoolies, van conversions, unique recreational campers, gypsy wagons, teardrops, yurts and more. In addition to tours, attendees will also enjoy expert speaker presentations, a product and service marketplace, food, drink, and more.

The Denver Museum of Nature & Science is partnering with the Mexican Cultural Center to host the sixth annual “Día del Niño: Celebrating All Children,” an SCFD Community Free Day event, on Sunday, April 28 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The Museum’s Día del Niño celebration will include multicultural music and dance performances, face painting, crafts, Colorado sports mascots, Mr. Bones the Paleo Puppeteer, a Museum-wide scavenger hunt, and free admission to the “Our Senses: Creating Your Reality” temporary exhibition.

Now that spring has officially sprung, it's time for the Fetch Spring Market - formerly known as the Denver Flea! It's happening this year on Saturday, April 13 and Sunday, April 14 at a new location in RiNo. Fetch Markets are Colorado’s largest and most creative celebrations of small business, shopping, design, local culture, and community.

Like the market you've come to know and love, the Fetch Spring Market features 180 vendors from Colorado and the Rocky Mountain region, including 40 new brands and more than 100 returning favorites, who will sell their goods alongside music, eats, specialty drinks from pop-up bars, and more.

What:  Fetch Spring Market (formerly known as the Denver Flea)
When:  Saturday, April 13 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sunday, April 14 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Where:  RiNo Parking Garage, 2635 Blake Street, Denver, CO 80205
Tickets:  $5 - good for both days, children under 12 are free

Fetch will also be hosting a NEW puppy and dog adoption event at the Market with MaxFund! Play with puppies and dogs and maybe even bring home your new forever friend!

Seven Grand is doing a pop-up bar at the Market and will be serving a selection of cocktails from their menu. Fetch bars will also be set up throughout the Market featuring new spring cocktails created by Chad Michael George.
